GWHS provides counselling (excluding Crisis, complex mental health issues including suicidal intentions, or psychiatric histories) and health related services to women in the South East Metropolitan area, cover the following concerns:

  • Peri-Natal Mental Health
  • Family Issues and Relationships
  • Grief
  • Anxiety
  • Self Esteem
  • Assertiveness
  • Personal Growth
  • Domestic Violence
  • Depression
  • and the like

If the client's issues include, but are not solely related to, drugs and alcohol you may still refer them to us.

Please be aware that there is currently a wait list for some types of referrals. Although we cannot currently give you an indication of when an appointment may be available, we are endeavouring to see clients as quickly as possible. We thank you for your patience.

If the client is unable to wait for an appointment, please contact a local GP who formulates mental health plans. They can then refer the client to a psychologist through the Medicare scheme. Please be aware that not all GPs do mental health plans. This includes the female GP who attends our office 2 days a week.

If their need is urgent (the client is in crisis) please contact:

  • Lifeline 13 11 14 (24 hours, 7 days)
  • Crisis Care 9223 1111 or 1800 199 008
  • Mental Health Emergency Response Line 9224 8888 (all hours) or 1800 676 822 (rural free call)
  • Armadale Mental Health Service 1300 555 788 or go to Armadale Kelmscott Hospital 3056 Albany Hwy, Armadale
